Date / TimeDec 19, 2022 (09:30 AM) - (12:00 PM)
Cupola Hall TU Vienna, Karlsplatz 13, 1040 Vienna, 4th Floor
At this event, organized jointly with the Austrian Chapter of the Club of Rome, the Vienna University of Technology and the Climate & Energy Fund, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Dr. Fatih Birol, will present the IEA’s World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2022.
According to the IEA report, global energy transition efforts are not sufficient to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. Rather, the IEA projects global warming of 2.5 degrees by 2100.
However, the report also shows that mankind still has technical and economic options to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees or at least well below 2 degrees in the long term. This will require immense changes in global infrastructure investments, but they are possible, the IEA said.
