{"id":10954,"date":"2025-05-14T20:56:37","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T18:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wec-austria.at\/?p=10954"},"modified":"2025-07-25T10:57:36","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T08:57:36","slug":"recap-of-the-82nd-general-assembly-of-the-world-energy-council-austria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wec-austria.at\/en\/recap-of-the-82nd-general-assembly-of-the-world-energy-council-austria\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap of the 82nd General Assembly of the World Energy Council Austria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"439\">The 82nd General Assembly of the World Energy Council Austria recently took place under the leadership of President Dr. Michael Strugl and constituted a high-level event filled with valuable insights and forward-looking discussions on the future of energy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"617\">A special thank-you goes to Dr. Berislav Gaso and OMV for their generous hosting, as well as to all members, partners, and friends of WEC Austria who attended in great numbers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"619\" data-end=\"753\">After the formal governance segment and an overview of WEC Austria&#8217;s current activities, the afternoon continued with a key highlight:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"1122\"><strong data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"853\">Panel Discussion \u2013 The Future Role of Natural Gas in the Global and National Energy Transition<\/strong><br data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"856\" \/>The discussion explored the relevance and challenges of natural gas in a rapidly transforming energy landscape. One key takeaway: while gas will remain significant in the short term, long-term strategies must focus on integrating it into low-emission energy systems.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1152\">Panel participants included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1418\">\n<li data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1223\">\n<p data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1223\">Dr. Michael Strugl, President of WEC Austria and CEO of VERBUND AG<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1294\">\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1294\">Dr. Berislav Gaso, Vice President of WEC Austria and EVP of OMV AG<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1363\">\n<p data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1363\">Dr. Valerie Hackl, Managing Director of Gas Connect Austria GmbH<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1418\">\n<p data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1418\">Mag. Johannes Benigni, Director at JBC Vienna GmbH<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1692\"><strong data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1460\">Launch of the New Study \u201cNextEnergy\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1463\" \/>Another highlight was the presentation of the new study initiative \u201cNextEnergy\u201d by a highly respected team of experts.
