YEP – Current Cycle
The third cycle of our YEP programme began with the call for proposals by WEC Austria in autumn 2020. Candidates express their interest in participating and are accepted into the YEP network. The first step will be kick-off events, where the topics will be worked out and groups formed. Due to COVID-19 and the associated restrictive measures, the date for the first introductory kick-off event has not yet been fixed. A date in spring 2021 is aimed at.
An innovation in the third cycle is the cooperation with research institutions, including IHS, AIT and the Faculty of Finance at the University of Vienna. These partners provide support in finding topics for the work. The aim is to achieve possible collaboration in the research work of the institutes. In addition, the involvement of these institutes should enable a broader thematic treatment of the thematic issues. In addition to the topics set by the partners, there will also be a leitmotif which will determine the thematic orientation.
The duration for the third cycle is set at 2-3 years. The group size should be 4-8 persons, although changes may occur depending on the group and topic.
As in previous cycles, the networking character within the YEP programme plays a very important role. We would like to maintain this, but the current restrictive COVID-19 measures prevent larger physical events.
The programme starts with one or two kick-off meetings. In these meetings the participants and the topics will be introduced. Regular telephone or web conferences, chaired by WEC Austria, will be held to maintain the flow of information with the participants and to draw attention to current developments at WEC Austria.
Semi-annual network meetings and workshops are held to facilitate contact between the groups and ensure a constant exchange of knowledge.
An additional aim of the third cycle is to involve the Board more closely in the work of the groups. Here, board members work directly with the working groups by taking over the sponsorship or mentoring of a group.
To support the work process, so-called milestones are set. The milestone reports are presented to the board in order to evaluate the basic direction of the work and to give feedback.
In addition, the aim is to integrate YEP alumni into the work of the participants. Alumni play an advisory role and should support the participants. The work is finalised by the presentation of the report by the participants. At the end of the 3rd cycle all YEPs will be transferred to the Alumni Platform.
