Looking back on the Vienna Energy Security Dialogue 2025
Last week over 200 top decision-makers, energy experts, and industry leaders came together at the Vienna Energy Security Dialogue 2025, organised by the World Energy Council Austria and the OSCE in collaboration with EY Austria and the Industriellenvereinigung.
In an era when clean energy ambitions must be reconciled with geopolitical fragmentation, cyber threats, and mounting pressures on industrial competitiveness, one message resonated clearly across all panels:
➡️ Energy security is no longer just about supply. It’s about systems resilience, digital robustness, industrial competitiveness, and global cooperation.
Some other key takeaways that stood out:
Diversification is survival: Of sources, technologies, suppliers, and demand is not just policy, it’s a strategy.
There’s no transition without transmission: Grid resilience is both a bottleneck and a solution.
Cybersecurity is energy security: The digitalization of energy systems has made them a prime target.
Resilience is now a strategic superpower: But it requires coordination across public, private, and international actors.
