84th General Assembly

A heartfelt thank you to the approximately 50 participants, speakers, and partners of WEC Austria for the engaging discussions and open dialogue on the most pressing current challenges of energy policy in Austria and across Europe.

One of the evening’s highlights was the distinguished panel discussion moderated by President Michael Strugl, featuring Markus Beyrer (Director General of BusinessEurope, Brussels) and Alfons Haber (Executive Board Member of E-Control).

We would also like to thank our colleagues from the WEC Austria team for their insightful presentations on:

• The World Energy Council’s “World Energy Trilemma Index and Issues Monitor 2026,” presented by Milica Vujacic and Martin Heissenberger
• The 5th cycle of our highly successful Young Energy Professionals (YEP) Program, presented by Eva Lugstein and Adrian Aumayr

Special thanks also go to our host, the Austrian Federation of Industries, for welcoming us to the House of Industry (Haus der Industrie) at Schwarzenbergplatz in Vienna.

The key takeaway of the evening was clear: Europe’s energy future requires pragmatic, fact-based solutions enabled through cooperation, innovation, and open dialogue between business, policymakers, and regulators.
