Final Event 5th YEP-Cycle

This week marked the closing event of the fifth cycle of our YEP program, held this time in the impressive setting of the DC Tower on Vienna’s Donauplatte, hosted by PwC Austria.

Our sincere thanks go to the 36 dedicated Young Energy Professionals who have worked intensively and productively together over the past 12 months.

The quality of the results presented was truly impressive, covering six key topics selected for this cycle, all related to the energy transition:

  • Energy storage solutions for a renewable energy system
  • Decarbonization of transport and mobility
  • AI and digitalization in the energy sector
  • Grids and flexibility for efficient infrastructure
  • Security of supply in a volatile environment
  • Electricity market design for 2050

The engaging group presentations demonstrated the remarkable expertise and innovative capacity of the next generation of energy professionals. The interdisciplinary collaboration among industry, regulators, academia, and industrial partners creates exactly the perspectives needed to successfully shape the energy transition. It is no coincidence that the participants of the 5th YEP cycle were specially nominated high-potential professionals from organizations such as OMV, Verbund, Siemens Energy, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism (BMWET), Österreichs Energie, and many others.

Special thanks also go to Dr. Berislav Gašo, OMV Executive Board Member and WEC Vice President, for opening the event, as well as to DI Michael Sponring and the PwC Austria team for their hospitality and for providing an excellent setting for exchange and networking.

The future of our energy system will be shaped by people who are willing to think beyond existing boundaries. The 5th YEP cycle has demonstrated impressively that this future is already becoming a reality.
