24th WORLD ENERGY CONGRESS – SUMMARY WEC AUSTRIA

The 24th World Energy Congress took place in Abu Dhabi from the 9th to the 12th of September and was the first Congress to take place in the Middle East. Around 5,000 delegates from the entire energy industry, including more than 70 ministers and heads of state, came together for four days to discuss the most pressing issues facing the energy world.

Austria was represented by a top-class 23-member delegation consisting of industry representatives from business and science as well as representatives of international energy organisations based in Vienna.

Dr. Robert Kobau, Secretary General of WEC Austria: “The energy system transformation can only succeed if it is thought globally and holistically and discussed on an international scale. Ongoing international cooperation is essential for this. In this context, the World Energy Congress is of enormous importance for the exchange of knowledge.

At the end of the event, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Nowak invited all participants to the next World Energy Congress to be held in St. Petersburg in 2022.
